This intensive is designed for couples navigating significant relational distress — including high conflict, repeated cycles of disconnection, communication breakdown, or situations where standard weekly therapy has not been sufficient. The format provides extended, focused time to slow down reactive patterns, go beneath surface conflict, and begin building a different way of relating.
Day one
The first day is structured to establish safety and develop a clear picture of your relationship dynamic. You can expect:
- A joint couples assessment
- Individual sessions with Dr. Dalgleish
- Clinical feedback on your relationship patterns and cycle
Because couple dynamics can vary, the structure of Day 1 may be adjusted based on what emerges clinically. Dr. Dalgleish will always prioritize what is best to ensure a positive collaborative space.
Day two
Building on the assessment from Day 1, the second day focuses on structured conversations, emotional regulation, and skill-building tailored to your specific cycle. The goal is not simply to resolve the current conflict but to give you both a clearer understanding of the pattern beneath it — and practical tools to interrupt it.
Important to understand
An intensive is not a substitute for ongoing therapy. At the close of the intensive, Dr. Dalgleish will provide clinical recommendations for moving forward — which may include continued couples therapy, individual referrals, or both.
What this format offers
- Extended, uninterrupted time to move past surface conflict into what is actually driving it
- Feedback on your specific cycle that typically takes multiple sessions to uncover.
- Dedicated space to practice emotional regulation and de-escalation in real time
- Clarity — many clients leave with a much better sense of where they are, what they need, and what comes next
